about my venture

My name is Cody and I am 11 yrs old. I love to travel and explore. I enjoy swimming and have been on a swim team for 6 years. My most memorable trip has been to the Bahamas with my family in 2009. One of my favorite things I got to do was snorkel in the clear blue ocean. Recently I have been blessed with a chance to snorkel on the other side of the world. I would enjoy the chance to explore a world I never thought I would get a chance to see.

I have been accepted as a People to People Student Ambassador to Australia in the summer of 2012. I will be traveling with a delegation of kids my age, led by experienced teachers. Our journey will take us to historical sites, famous landmarks, and unique cultural experiences. I am most excited about getting to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef with a Marine Biologist! Along the way, we’ll be eating some interesting local foods.

            Our 15 day route goes through The Whitsundays where I can explore the Great Barrier Reef. While in Yeppoon, I will immerse myself in local culture and interact with Aboriginal people and learn to throw the boomerang and test my skills on the didgeridoo. On the Sunshine Coast I will come face to face with the native animals such as sharks, koalas, kangaroos, and wallabies. I will get a chance to experience the Australian education system and get a guided tour of the city of Brisbane from a local host family. Of course no visit to Australia is complete without visiting Sydney, where I will enjoy a backstage pass to the acoustic marvel that is the Sydney Opera House and much more. It’s going to be a whirlwind tour.

I am paying my way and raising money for the program. Here are some of the projects I am working on.

*I’m currently helping out the environment by recycling cans and bottles, if you have any you would like to donate please contact me. We would be more then happy to pick them up.

*I am doing an ongoing fundraiser selling candles by PartyLite (visit the website then E-mail me your order).

*I will be having a fundraiser night at “That’s Amore Pizza” on Feb 17 11:00am – 10:00pm (Just show up and mention my name and I will get 20% from your order).

*We will also be hosting a “Spaghetti Dinner Night” on Feb 27 at “That’s Amore Pizza”, pre-sale tickets are $5.00.

*I am also reaching out to friends, family, and local businesses. Would you be willing to help sponsor my trip? Please let me know if there are any services I can do for you. I’m great with my hands and would love to work in exchange for your support. I’d be happy to wash your cars, walk your dogs, or do something around the house.

My name is Cody and I am 11 yrs old. I am in the six grade and enjoy Middle School. My favorite subjects are science and band. I just started learning to play the trumpet and I love to be able to play for other people. I enjoy swimming and have been on a swim team for 6 years. I also enjoy playing basketball, tennis and riding my rollerblades. I love to travel and explore. My most memorable trip has been to the Bahamas with my family in 2009. I also love to go to a YMCA camp called Camp Arbolado! I have gone every year for the past 5 years and I can't wait to become a counselor there.
