about my venture

15 some odd years ago My friends and I started playing music for free at various outdoor venues. In our ramblings we found Horning's Hideout. An absolutely gorgeous privately owned campground with fishing, hiking, camping, disc golf, etc and only 26 miles from downtown Portland, Oregon. The spot is the best place in Oregon to throw a music festival. So, for the last 15 years I have been playing music and volunteering at some of the best music festivals ever. Now they are huge festivals, sometimes with over 5000 attendees camping for three days. Now these shows bring in their own vending but I thought,"Wouldn't it be great to have a coffee shop here year round? Not only for the big festivals but for the regular camping and also the disc golfers (who come every day, rain or shine)." So I talked to the owner and last year I put up the coffee camper and started Java The Cup. We serve Espresso drinks, Teas, Cocoa, Trail Bars, Chi, Vitamin Water, Rockstars, Hot Dogs, Ice Cream, Biscotti, and oh yeah, Coffee. We opened in June which was too late to get in to the vending for the big festivals (you need to apply almost a year in advance) so our first year was a little shaky but, we had some bugs to work out. Most new businesses do. This year we are in for all the shows and all the Disc Golf Tournaments so it should be a great year. What we need from you is a little funding to paint the outside of the camper, we need to restock our T-shirts and Mugs, we need another sign and we need to pay for our permits. Whatever you can do would be awesome. If nothing else you gotta come see a show out at Horning's Hideout.

Sky Stewart

Owner / Java The Cup

My name is Sky Stewart. I am an Artist and a Musician. I barely eek out a living playing music and selling a few paintings or sculptures. I don't need much. I am a strong believer in the power of positive thought so my goal is to make the world a better place by being as positive as I can and making a positive impact on those around me. Last year I opened a small coffee camper and parked it at my favorite place, Horning's Hideout. What makes people more happy than a delicious cup of Joe in a beautiful setting.
